Old Town San Diego, October 21, 2003
Several days ago, Mike and I took a day trip to the Old Town Area of San Diego. In the year and a half we had been here, Mike had never seen the area, so, especially since we are getting ready to leave town and continue our travels, it would have been a good time for Mike to explore that area.
As you can see, it's a bit of a tourist trap, but the historical aspect of it was interesting as well. The following are pictures of the main square in Old Town. This area is the crux of the historical park, and is closed to through traffic. It's also full of LOTS of shops.
Following are pics of the Bazaar del Mundo, the world bazaar located in Old Town. This will be the last year Bazaar Del Mundo will be in existence, as Gray Davis, in one of his last acts in office, has assigned another consession vendor to take over that particular area.

This the famous haunted Whelan House, just down the street from the Old Town State Park. It was closed that day, so we couldn't visit the ghosts that supposedly haunt there.

This is a picture of the Junipero Serra Museum, which sits on the top of a hill, and can be viewed from I-8. As with the Whelan House, it was closed (I guess SD doesn't like it's employees working on Tuesdays). At least I got some nice pics out of it...
